The Bouverie Centre offers an array of short courses for helping professionals, with new training events added each year. View our offerings in the calendar below and register using our secure online facilities. You can also view and download the program here.

Registrations close 5 business days prior to the course. We may accept late registrations. Please contact us at +61 (03) 8481 4800 to discuss.

As an integrated practice-research centre, our course participants are asked to complete a pre and post course survey. This allows you to track your own progress and reflect on the course learnings. It also helps us understand workforce needs and training impacts, to refine our work and disseminate our learning to the field. Completion of the pre-course questions is a pre-requisite to commencing your course.

You will receive a tax invoice via email after submitting your registration details online. Accepted payment methods include credit card (Mastercard and Visa only), EFT or cheque.

My Early Relational Trauma Informed Learning (MERTIL)

In this Australian-first program, already delivered to 1600 Maternal and Child Health service staff in Victoria, you will learn the identification of and response to early trauma in the parent-child relationship, stemming from parent mental illness, grief, family violence, substance abuse, and related experiences.

No Bullshit Therapy

No Bullshit Therapy (NBT) is about creating a context for mutual honesty and directness. When combined with warmth, care and respect for the constraints of the work, a therapist who avoids jargon and uses an honest and direct approach can enhance intimacy and trust, especially with haters of therapy.

Single Session Family Consultation - From Individual to Families

A key component of the 'From Individual to Families' framework, Single Session Family Consultation (SSFC) combines the principles and practices of Family Consultation with Single Session Thinking. In this training, Dr. Brendan O'Hanlon, a leading developer and proponent of SSFC, provides a clearly articulated practical process for engaging families, ideally suited to contexts where a family member is the primary client of an individually oriented service (e.g. adult mental health, alcohol and other drugs, youth services).

Single Session Thinking

Single Session Thinking (SST) is an approach which makes the most of each encounter with clients by treating each contact, but especially the first, as though it may be the only contact, while laying the foundation for ongoing work, if required and requested by the client. In this training, Prof. Jeff Young and Pam Rycroft, Australia's key developers and proponents of SST, provide the solid grounding in SST, translate it into practice and show how it can be implemented in various settings.

The Bouverie Centre acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land on which our organisational building stands - the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin nation. We pay our respects to the Elders past, present and future. We also extend that respect to all Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples.
